Congress has subpoenaed former presidential legal counsel Harriet Miers and political director Sara Taylor to testify before committees investigation the firing of federal prosecutors.

The White house is, of course, stalling. They had offered to have these people, and others, testify but only behind closed doors and without transcripts being taken. All the while they claim nothing improper has occurred.

The whole closed door interview thing reminds me of the executives from big oil companies coming to Congress to testify last year when the Republicans were in charge. In an unusual move then, they were not sworn in under oath before their testimony for fear that they would look like criminals in the resulting press photos. Is the White House trying to cover-up impropriety or just avoid the appearance of it.
